The game takes place in Amsterdam during 1666, a city built on wealth, power, and sheer will, but shaped by ancient forces it did not forge. Entities known as the "Originals" have lived among its citizens for centuries, abusing the time and power granted to them. Now, that power is owed as a multi-century cycle reaches its end. The story centers around Noa Brooklyn, born and raised by the Zaindaris for a dark purpose she did not choose: to become the "Collector." Alongside her is Aaron, a character drawn from the year 1999 who finds himself seeing the world through the eyes of a cat. Together, they must navigate a dark universe of unseen influences, witch-like themes, and ancient contracts dating back to 1333 before the first Esbat takes place.

Day and Night Gameplay: Experience a dynamic city cycle that shifts your objectives based on the sun. By day, navigate Amsterdam to investigate, gather clues, and use Noa’s esoteric senses to uncover demonic entities hiding among the citizens. By night, the game transforms into a dark, action-driven hunt where you unleash powerful witchcraft and combat mechanics to track down and eliminate the "Originals."
Three Timelines: The narrative structure is split across three distinct eras. Each time period allows players to gather fragments of information to uncover the larger truth of the city's foundations. Progression relies on an interconnected timeline mechanics where actions taken or secrets uncovered during Noa's path in 1666 actively alter the environment, clues, and layout of the city for Aaron in 1999 and the present day.
Choose Your Cat Companion: Early in the story, players must make a definitive choice to bound a companion to Noa's path, altering how they navigate the journey beside her.
Animal Mechanics: The game features dual perspectives and unique gameplay systems, allowing players to experience the world through different eyes, including mechanics tied to controlling or seeing through animals like cats.
